Really amazing image Dan! I love the idea, the execution, the epic feel! Just WOW!! It´s definitally worth a second post with 3 images. The complete one in portrait on the left, and 2 of your favorite closeups in landscape on the right. So people immediately see the whole image

sure give it a try. Would be bad not sharing it more. I imagine, lot of work went into it. If you don´t like the close up idea, think about a "start > finish" tweet or an "The art...the reference" tweet. Both in the same format. People love to see stuff like that. ;) Just ideas

Is that the way to hack the terrible twitter crops? They always seem to go for the worst crop possible
Even more so when you like to work with elongated canvases... -
hmm... it´s one way, I think :) You also could post 2 times the same image in portrait format in one tweet. Or directly plan right from the beginning doing an image close to the twitter image guidelines. None of these is the perfect solution. Just ways to avoid bad cropping
