Damn... "thanks a bunch" = a sarcastic/ironic version of saying thank you. 
Oh boy, and I often used it to thanks people here on twitter for their comments.

after all, it eems it´s totally fine to use. It depends a lot on context. I shouldn´t google such things and trust the first results. But english isn´t my main language. I use it to 99% on twitter and there are some insecurances here and there. :)

English is a really complicated language, even the slightest change in tone can change the meaning of the same phrase. Twitter made me learn more about certain phrases though since English isn't my first language as well
