Yes and no. Generally people making models for 3d printing do so with lack of supports in mind (things that hang over dead air need material under them to be able to print) but it's not essential by any means. Most important thing, is that the mesh is "watertight"
You can make sure that it is by exporting it as an STL or OBJ, and pulling it in to Microsoft's 3d Builder (part of windows 10) and if it's not "watertight" it will tell you it needs to be repaired, then you just click the button and it will repair it for you. Then just save it
