As I've said before, it's basically the Vietnam of healthcare at this point: They knew they couldn't win fighting a virus from the start, but they had to be perceived as doing something. And then whenever it didn't work they doubled down.

It would've literally been more effective if they had done nothing and pretended they were doing something. I'll let future generations judge me on this quote.
