“Considered by some” and I’d argue not apparently practiced by many self-professed contemporary libertarians
Nowadays, everyone calls themselves a libertarian, because there is no strict definition of what it is. In the task of identifying a libertarian I personally recommend sticking to the definition of Rothbard, Nozick, Kinsella, and Hoppe.
My mistake. I’ll refer to the people I mean as shortsighted, selfish, solipsistic jerks in the future to avoid offending any libertarian sensitivities.
There is indeed a kind of “socially responsible libertarians” who somehow occupy a good piece of the Bleeding Heart Libertarians platform, for example. Those do allow punching someone, even if the person had no intention to punch you. Because it is “just” according to them.
