Next week Bradenton County, Florida commissioners will consider reinstalling a Confederate monument on its courthouse lawn after it was removed in 2017. It is no accident that this is occurring as continues to censor the teaching of Black history in public schools.

Imagine banning teachers from teaching anything relating to Irish-American history, or German-American history. Because literally the same process is at work here. Black History is US History. You can't stir things apart, but Florida is going to pretend you can.

Today there are some states that seek to venerate the legacy of my slaveholding collateral ancestor, Confederate General Robert E Lee.
To continue to do such is a harbinger of white supremacy, and hate. Lee was a failed military tactician, traitor, and insurrectionist. 1/4
