So many are now build their own takes on PKM / CKM tooling, or joining teams doing the same. Strong early vibes created so much momentum and community education around TFT. Good model.

Good question – I think the naive answer would be "just start making things!"
But that has lots of pitfalls. It would be more helpful to read up on the history and context of TFT, engage in lots of community events, and get a strong read on the core issues and research Q's first

IMHO The field is so broad and young that it's hard to get a sense of how to contribute in a specific way.
A comprehensive "lit review" of existing tooling, papers, and community beliefs should give you a good map. Specific issues will become obvious - there's plenty of them!
