I know nothing on sports coaching so I take your words. We have the same with "Learning", it's an umbrella word for many things. Knowledge, Information and Data have "hazy" definitions as

said. Knowledge overlaps Information but Knowledge and Data are distinct.

We’re not going to solve the ambiguities of language anytime soon 😉 The meaning is always baked into the immediate context and doesn’t exist as some abstract idea outside of it. Go full Wittgenstein:

It's a struggle I admit, but no. We can't go full Wittgenstein on everything, every day. It keeps the door open too wide for charlatans. Every field consolidates its domain language to make progress. It eases communication.

but basically this conversation is based on a misunderstanding about what meaning is and how it is used in a casual conversation, in a technical conversation and domain experts. And even Wittgenstein has changed his ideas on language fundamentally during his lifetime.

What Maggie shared is a movie, not an actual record. In French, we call that "Noyer le poison", drown the fish. I'm just staying at the level of the movie of using animals metaphors 🤣 Take any claim and refute it by finding an even more abstract claim showing it's useless

I wouldn't use such strong language here but yes twitter is inviting predisposed directions for conversations. it's basically just a tuner for anything on the ultimate megaphone.

There are forums and mediums where we could all dig into the assumptions we’re bringing to the table, establish a canon of shared literature, define a set of problems, and engage in nuanced debate about the meaning of words. But this ain’t it. Here to play and talk nonsense

I agree. What communities do you have in mind that do go deeper into the conversations are epistemology, ontology, philosophy around learning/pkm etc?

I paid a liberal arts university an enormous sum of money to give me a social context to discuss and unpack Wittgenstein’s nonsense I’ve also found it with small, in-person discussion groups (with well read folks) Perhaps there are cozy web chats, but bet they have to stay small
