What would you call these type of visually structured queries that allow you to insert variables and formulas, and semantically group areas of text for you?
Visual formulas? Visual queries? Visual expressions?

Kinda nitpicky but: I'd put RegExr in a different category — there seems to be a distinction between merely highlighting what you've entered (RegExr) and constraining input somewhat more physically & tacking on extra affordances like the dropdowns in the causal example...

Definitely agree - was uncertain about whether it belonged in the same category, but thought the visual grouping of sections of text + querying aspect partially aligned. Partial member of whatever pattern this is.
