This is an interesting idea but how does the block protocol deal with reasons (other than hubris) that drive people to develop their own blocks in the first place? If I'm going to take your block how do I get it to look at home in my site without sticking out like a sore thumb?

Re: motivations. We expect people will build blocks for the same reasons they create OSS projects now. To solve their own problems. To help other people solve problems. Because they have ideas and know how to bring them to life. The will to create springs eternal :)
