just reading through your "Tending to the Roam Garden" article - any reason you get your books as pdf as opposed to Kindle or something?

I can’t doodle, highlight, or take notes in the margins of kindle books. In PDF format I have way more control of being able to mark up the text like I would a physical book.

Fair enough on the doodles - there are highlighting and note taking features though?

Yup, PDF expert is the app I use but there are others. PDFs are fairly versatile as a file format so you’re not locked into one system. You can highlight/annotate a PDF in most apps and have them show up universally. can also automatically export highlights/notes with Skim
