It is impossible to understand the Philippines without understanding nationalism. Benedict Anderson's imagined communities is the book to read. Especially for post colonial nationalisms, like that of ours.

Oh nice! It was definitely transformative for me when I first read it as a student. I still need to flesh out these notes. Still missing plenty of the meaty bits
