I donโt think it will. Itโs private convos, publicly held.
Itโs in line with their recently making quote retweets more visible.

My not sure if this is good for newbies. If only people you follow or mentioned can participate in the convo, that shuts the doors for the curious newbies with questions.

True, like an echo chamber, no questions, no diversity, no contradictions. But I admit it can help some feel more confortable and start tweeting

You can set it on a per-tweet basis though. I see it as a tool to be used when needed. Not a permanent setting.
