Ended up in quite the research rabbit hole exploring the historical origins of Bi-directional links this week. Involves Project Xanadu, early internet spats, and Memex machines. Sketched out some of the basic concepts and wrote up a little garden note: maggieappleton.com/bidirectionals

Yeah webmentions are certainly part of this ecosystem, and I’ll likely keep expanding this page and talk about bidirectionals between sites. This was just an initial research dump and stuck to focusing On internal bidirectionals. But plenty more to explore!

I use Webmention on my wordpress site also to create bidirectional links between my own postings and pages, not just across sites. (zylstra.org/blog/2020/05/1)
