Part two - Once I have all the vector shapes blocked in and the composition balance feels good, I start pedantically adding details, gradients and lighting effects into the shapes.

And then finally in part three I export the vectors from illustrator into photoshop and hand-paint in more details, lighting, and colour work using a Cintiq digital tablet.
