Correcrion since this is taking off, the building that's burning is Notre Dame of Paris, not Notre Dame of Reims. Wasn't aware that the Paris one was the one on fire. That being said, I'll maintain the belief that France will restore Notre Dame de Paris just as faithfully.

The damage in WWI was not extensive.
-
That damage was, but that's not the same Notre Dame. The one pictured is in Reims, not Paris, and it has since been restored. Regardless of the extent of this damage, Notre Dame Paris surely will be rebuilt as well, but either way it's a lot of history lost.

As a lover of history I genuinely hope they can repair the damage done... this breaks my heart too much...

This is Reims - not Paris!

you're correct, didn't realize that the Paris one was burning, but Reims was restored and I believe Notre Dame de Paris will also be restored as faithfully. Still a tragic loss of history of course.

"Do you hear the people sing? Lost in the valley of the night It is the music of a people Who are climbing to the light For the wretched of the earth There is a flame that never dies Even the darkest night will end And the sun will rise." ~Les Miserables.
