Oscar De La Hoya tells me he’s “very close to a deal” in finalizing an opponent for Canelo Alvarez, and an announcement is imminent. “Canelo will definitely fight in May, and the plan is Las Vegas," said De La Hoya.
Oscar De La Hoya said: "As much as I’d love to say a name, I can’t because the fighter adds another zero to their paycheck [as leverage]. We have a handful of fighters on the list. That’s what's exciting about being in Canelo’s position. He has many opponents to choose from."
