Just... no. Incels know that sex robots exist. They know that sex workers exist. The issue is that they feel entitled to have sex with (beautiful) women by the virtue of the fact that they exist.https://nyti.ms/2FBps7I

Wouldn't society be better served by attempting to understand how marginalized, say, the poor must feel by their lack of access to health care, housing, and employment rather than how marginalized some betas must feel by their lack of access to sex?

Did you read the article? He addresses that. And why can't we contemplate many things at once? It's a false choice to suggest looking at this issue is tantamount to ignoring the poor.

Yes I read it, thanks! My point is this thought experiment suggests the "unhappiness of incels," who may be "angry and dangerous" is a legitimate enough concern to consider the "redistribution" of sex. But why normalize their outrage when others lack more crucial kinds of access?

The simple answer to your question is because they are just a small, zealous and particularly nasty handful of a larger problem: loneliness. It's apparently on the rise and I appreciate people who are thinking differently about it.

The sex/commerce debate is a fascinating and important one. But how 'bout the NYT spend less time profiling (and normalizing) "angry," "dangerous" misunderstood men -- the white supremacist next door or the poor, sexless "incel" -- and more on people with REAL problems.

Sure, but isn't that the whole point of Douthat's piece? He's using the incel thing as a *springboard* to the real problem of loneliness and lack of intimacy in many people's lives. He's not at all featuring or normalizing misogynistic assholes' behavior. He's meta musing.
