Who ordered *that*? Retweeted Kat Marchán

I'm remembering the community getting mad at @withoutboats and @aaron_turon for blogging about tentative proposals without discussing it with everyone first even though this was just a blog post and not an actual RFC (where they can give input)https://twitter.com/maybekatz/status/953427865441263616 …

    Who ordered *that*? added,

    Kat Marchán @maybekatz
Subtweet: coordinating and preparing a solid proposal in private does not constitute shutting out of stakeholders when the proposal is being prepared *for those same stakeholders to evaluate* once it's ready. You don't have to do stuff out in the open where it can be disrupted.

Not exactly what happened, really, but it's hard to explain. Folks were *mad* they "weren't consulted".

Well, I say "community" but it was mostly a couple of vocal folks I think

Public facing community leadership is tough. And stressful.

It comes from a combo of caring a lot about a thing, and feeling un-empowered to influence it. Blog posts from the team can feel like "inevitable proposals", despite the fact that we almost never do exactly what we blogged about!
