Rogue Trooper was created by @gerryfinleyday and @davegibbons90 in 1981 and first showed his azure cheeks back in @2000AD prog 228. (2000AD Is a bit like the UK's Marvel, spliced with Heavy Metal magazine. Best known outside of the UK as the birthplace of Judge Dredd.)pic.twitter.com/2H0AieACjc

I'd say it's an action filled war story about honor, betrayal, huge, fuck-off tanks, robots, revenge & loyalty! It's definitely sci-fi, in a big way, but it also has its root deep in the old war comics that came out in the UK in the 60s & 70s. Things like Commando and Battle.pic.twitter.com/Zaub7PeJ7y

Its a mix of odd bed-fellows; the US Civil War, Nazi baddies, the lost souls of Vietnam era GIs in a protracted war where many have lost touch with reality. Below is an image from Will Simpson's gorgeous, soulful art, done for a later iteration of Rogue called War Machine.pic.twitter.com/4VmZmMJnPS

One of the unique elements of RT is that the soldiers who are killed in action, can be taken with Rogue. Well, 3 of them! This is done by removing a "biochip" from a casualty's head, as quickly as possible, & transferring it to a storage slot in a piece of Rogue's kit.pic.twitter.com/5DOEa94QLI

The narrative spin on that is Rogue, a loner, gets to travel with the "spirits" of 3 brothers-in-arms. One each, in his rifle, his helmet, and his backpack... and a very special tension comes out of that, as Rogue is the only way they have a hope in hell of getting home.pic.twitter.com/CNtcsPDcxU

well... Im going to dole this stuff out slowly, as Im working on things. Maybe muse on things and wax poetic occasionally. More fun than talking about politics incessantly, to be honest! (still will do that a bit too though. ;)

I love the way autocorrect made that into Mortal Lombard. It gives a whole new view of the House of Sforza.
