I was helping him to apply for a PhD program in 2016. He was admitted, but his application for a student visa was rejected for unknown reason (visa app process was transitioning into a new system in Malaysia then). If it wasn't rejected, he could've left China for his studies. /2

Ablajan's brother-in-law @A_Turdiniyaz learned some time earlier that his family was told by the authorities that Ablajan would be charged. He doesn't know much, but he and I fear that Ablajan may have been wrongfully sentenced for his contribution to Uyghur culture & society. /4
