The cover Yaniv got was predictable and, in fact, predicted. Use of the ever flexible "hate" as the primary means of measuring misconduct ensures that predators will be protected by rules and laws that hide their pasts.

Don't lose sight of the fact that Ogre is ultimately not that important here. What matters is the growing acceptance and enforcement of censorship.

I went back through
@SamBarber's incredible thread on suspensions and found five that were explicitly tied to the Yaniv story. There were undoubtedly others, but they were linked, not screen-capped, and now they're gone.Show this thread -
Remember also that
@4th_WaveNow posted Gendertrender's statement about the deletion of that website and Wordpress **altered what was written** on the 4thwavenow website.Show this thread -
We're living the dangers that Orwell, Bradbury and others warned us about. Although not unimportant, identity isn't the point; it's the means of stripping society of its freedom to speak, to question, to criticize.

Think about how this plays out. Ogre **is a politician** and used "hate" laws to punish someone for wrong speak. This should worry everyone. Imagine Trump having that power. He'd have half the U.S. journalists in jail.

Hate can't be legislated away and hurt feelings are a fact of life. Trying to eliminate these things only gives power to malcontents and authoritarians. That's what Yaniv did and it's what Ogre is doing.

There are plenty of other examples. I've seen news stories of sexual predators adopting new identities not only on social media, but in real life. They **will** hurt people. Meanwhile people like
@HarryTheOwl get hassled by the police.Show this thread -
A woman was actually arrested and detained. For her words. The instigator of that arrest and similarly minded others are power tripping.

Censorship is the tool of the petty tyrant. You can see it exercised all the time on Twitter when small-minded people celebrate people getting fired or banned, pulling their books from publication or being forced to issue degrading, groveling apologies.

These tyrants don't care about the actual damage they inflict; tyrants never do. What they want is your loyalty, even if it's insincerely held and forced from you.

All the people cheering never seem to realize how easy it is to end up on the wrong side of the censors. Read Darkness at Noon for a glimpse of what can happen.

Tyrants in the west have learned that, if you're patient, you can get the people to hand over their rights, a little here and a little there, because it seems okay in whatever narrow set of circumstances is present.

That's what Ogre tried to do in saying it was the speech of gender critics that allowed Yaniv's predatory behavior.

We're on a dangerous path. Without the ability to speak freely, other issues are of no consequence. You can't fight for or against anything without it.
