  6. Even people who don't watch the stock market are saying the Chinese market will crash at the open. Makes me wonder if the bottom is close. When the last bull turns bear and all...

  10. I've had a fair amount of people who work corporate jobs tell me that my Twitter shitposting is "harming my job prospect". Believe me, I know. It is entirely intentional.

  11. Fun fact: I actually use my Twitter as a way to filter out job offers from super corporate hellscapes that'd want to exert control over my life outside work.

  12. Coming to the conclusion the coronavirus is a bio weapon engineered from HIV based on a single obscure non peer-reviewed paper is actually a way lower standard for research than that done by most anti-vaxxers, just fyi.

  13. Totally over the dumb implications that I'm some sort of government agent. I didn't get no jail time because that's what the government wanted, I got no jail time because the they tried, and failed, to convince a judge to sentence me to prison.

  15. It's good Twitter is cracking down on disinformation. This isn't the type of shit that just causes unnecessary panic, it's the type that gets people killed. Remember when someone shot up a pizza parlor because random internet weirdos convinced them it was a front for a pedo ring?

  16. Just found out the blog I used to follow for financial analysis went full QAnon-level crazy and got permbanned from Twitter for claiming the Coronavirus is a bioweapon created by some random Chinese scientist. 🙃

  17. You just can't use the effects of data breaches on share price as a serious quantification for the value of cyber security. As much as we'd like to think data breaches are the worst thing ever, the market simply does not care. 9/9

  18. A data breach is in most cases a short term drop in share prices due to knee-jerk reactions from traders. Data loss and extended outages directly and sometimes significantly affect profit margins, therefore can lead to long term revenue hits, and even bankruptcy. 8/?

  19. Following the Travelex hack, the CEO pledged 50% of the parent company's share as collateral on some old Travelex debt. They claim the hack had no material impact, but re-financing debt a week later doesn't seem like a likely coincidence. 7/?

  20. Even if the company is able to restore their data, it can still have lasting impacts. Many companies operate on super tight margins and simply can't afford to have a global multi-week long outage. 6/?

  21. Whilst almost any company can recover from a data breach, catastrophic data loss and/or extended outages are completely different ball games. In the past year (without searching) I've noticed 3 separate companies have gone bankrupt due to ransomware. 5/?
