Fellow #intactivists- if you want to grow this movement, which at its core is about #BodilyAutonomy and #ChildRights realize how these issues overlap with so many others and be good allies! Support #Trans kids, stop #intersex surgeries. Fight #FGM, support #WomensRights #LGBT

Funnily enough... I've had more Cis - Het - Endosex anti circ activists tell me that but of course IGM is OK.. Basically implying tht us "freaks" need to be fixed. Than from ANY other movement I've engaged with. ANY! I mean the Icelandic Church has been better than that. 1/2

Circumcision is worse because of the sheer number of victims and the fact that healthy male babies have zero pathology and all surgery is cateorigcally wrong. The moral case about non-intervention in intersex is similar, but is more nuanced, and is not necessarily identical.

Also there is no nuance in bodily autonomy and unnecessary surgery.

Aren't there cases where surgical intervention must be done just to keep the urinary tract of intersex individuals patent? It does become complex, because that is probably justified, but full blown "normalization" is definitely not.

What’s your point? There cases where the foreskin is gangrene or so scarred from forced retraction circumcision is also medically necessary. The rare need for extreme genital surgery is not the issue- cosmetic genital mutilation of children is the issue. Which are most cases.

I've never seen either of those cases and those simply wouldn't exist within the current regime of *routine* infant circumcision. The case against intersex mutilation is similar, though I have trouble getting through to people if I try to paint them as identical issues.

Basically the case I make against IGM relies more upon the inability of surgery to improve on the neurological situation of intersex genitals, and less on the fundamental presence or absence of a pathology or on physical integrity.
