I use quotes around “whites” as a race because I feel it hyperbolically oversimplifies things. Ashkenazi Jews, Italians, Greeks, and Turks share more ancestry as a group than they do with, say, Anglosaxons and Scandinavians.pic.twitter.com/mubR4cTRbo

However, there is considerable argument about calling Turks or Jews “white.” Are Greeks white? Southern Italians? Northern Italians? Where does it start? That’s why I have issue with “white” as some convenient umbrella term that encapsulates all fair skinned races.
