I love YouTube and when the notification system was first introduced I was told it was a chance for subs to see "every video you upload" I supported or then. But why break this system too? Why let it be only a "if we think the video is good enough" system as well?

Just to clarify, if someone taps the bell > all notifications, then they do get a notification for every video upload! It's only the "occasional" notification setting that sends just some. Also, no matter your notification settings, all new uploads still show in the subs feed!

it shouldn't be like that tho, it's not spam it's an actual person saying that they want to see the content, this is why a lot of channels are suffering because someone at the top thinks that they should be notified 'Occasionally' but the sub feed is also broken to

The bell provides more options though! Someone might not want to get notified about every upload from every single subscription (especially if they have a lot of them). The bell gives channel-level options: receive none, occasional, or all notifications.

but if they don't want to get notified then why would they subscribe to the channel? They should be able to opt of that if that's the case rather than they have to opt in to watch who they just subscribed to. The sub box doesn't always work because i'm still missing content from

No, Dont want any notifications. I just go to my sub box and i should see a thumbnail of every video uploaded by everyone i am subbed to in chronological released order.

But what happens if the sub box is broken, i'm subscribed to loads of different people right now and they don't all appear in my sub box at all, a notification is a lot easier so i can see that they are releasing content

Fix the sub box. Dont make up another process to subvert the responsibility of fixing whats broken. Thats like instead of patching the hole in your fishing boat, you just fish from the pier and avoid fixing the problem with your boat

thing is with the sub box it's been broken for a very long time, people have been complaining about it all the time and yet nothing gets done about it because Youtube don't want to do anything about it,

Then campaign for them to fix notifications AND the sub box. Dont just ignore the main problem since it there is some half baked workaround

if they fix them properly then all these things would stop and people would be happy about it but for now it seems like Youtube now is just ignoring people and not wanting to do anything about it.
