GameDev Twitter, what is something you want professors of game development classes to teach or stop teaching their students?

But it is a stepping stone! I was a QA turned engineer. I have worked with many QA turned engineer, designer, producer, writer, and manager. I know many great, talented QA and a lot of them want to branch out into other aspects of game dev.

How long ago did you make the transition? Things are not the same these days.

I got my start in qa and I love and respect testers but as a teacher I could never in good conscience encourage students to persue it as a long term career 18 years in the industry and I can only think of 1 long term tester that wasn't exploited by management

This is something we're all actively trying to change / improve!

I was just about to say basically, to educate students on QA more. What Mags has said pretty much ^^ QA was mentioned maybe once or twice as ‘your first job in the industry will probably be QA’ and that’s about it...

Honestly, I've been in QA, but I've also been on the other side of it - receiving bugs from solid QA people is like your pal telling you your skirt is tucked into your pants before you walk out the house. They see the stuff you don't want anyone else to see!
