He’s literally the example I have used of a character that could not possibly have been played by anyone else!

Isn't Matt Damon starring in the new Thor movie too?

Changed how he looked too

well on THAT score I'd argue it was actually film following the comics. Heroes reborn (alternate universe) gave Tony a goatee in the 90s, Ultimates (2002, AU again) continued this and added some shmooze, then this all bled into the main universe (pictured: Civil War, 2005)pic.twitter.com/JlSuE7Fy2J

I think if they re-cast they’ll have to go with like a more colder take on the character. Like a Mad men kinda deal. Otherwise just feels like trying to emulate RDJ. I can be easily proved wrong though.

Madness, so many ways in which this is wrongheaded. The specific lampooning of a silicon valley tech billionaire, the mirroring between RDJ's various struggles, and the weight Stark has on his shoulders, the way the MCU's rise paralleled Downey's return as a box office draw.pic.twitter.com/Vf6pQcSaOx

Right? Like, when Iron Man first hit, RDJ had already started getting a couple well received roles. But this shot him straight back to super-stardom. And you've seen it repeated a dozen times in Marvel. They are REALLY GOOD AT CASTING.

Downey IS Tony Stark and Iron Man. What people are not seeing is the multiverse opens the door for virtually EVERY deceased character’s comeback.
