Came back to this thread because a centipede was in the folds of my shower curtain this morning! 
Fortunately the curtain is white so I could see its shadow before I got in. Did you (or your cats, ah!) ever find it again, Maggie?
Sorry neighbors, I'm not being murdered, the world's largest house centipede just dashed across my floor and disappeared under the sofa

I screamed "CENTIPEDE!!!" at my husband, ran out of the room, and am now hiding in bed as though that will protect me.

I've not lived with them before and just had one a couple of evenings ago. I miraculously got a glass over it in the corner of the bathroom. Where it still remains. I did live with those nightmare southwest millipedes. Anyway, here I sit looking around the room every few minutes.
