As I write this, there are 1,038 New York Times employees in a Slack channel created less than six hours ago to discuss the op-ed. The discussion has been intense but thoughtful at every turn, and the idea that the anger is confined to young people is patently untrue.

Bari getting dunked on. Keeping it in the slack channel is a good call for people can share openly. As much as I would love to see her getting dunked on, respect the decision.pic.twitter.com/w5SAWvDV2p

You know, my dad was a pressman for NYT for his entire career. For the most part, he loved that paper, as he had to read almost every word of it, daily. He was, however, clear-eyed about the op-ed page and the PTB who controlled it. Back in the day, Punch Sulzberger

Listened to all levels of the staff, and my dad was not shy about speaking up. That doesn’t happen now, to the paper’s detriment. I still have Mr. Sulzberger’s handwritten letter of condolence, written when my dad passed, and he was sick himself.
