Obviously, the other layer to this specific comment from McEnany is the implication that journalists are anti-religion, which isn't true. But that's just today's manifestation of the larger narrative.

There is, of course, a ton of work to be done to make newsrooms more diverse in every way — race, gender, religion, geography, economic background, etc. Many parts of the population are underrepresented in journalism, and that's a really big problem. But that's not the narrative.
