Unlike many Americans, I do have a provider I go to for annual exams. But I have no relationship with her outside of that. Her office is not particularly convenient to my home or office. If I'm sick or injured, I go to the urgent care place a couple blocks from my apartment.

That urgent care place, incidentally, sent out an email this morning saying they do not have the capacity to perform coronavirus tests.

Some people have primary care doctors. Many don't. Many others are like me — have them for checkups but don't go to them for acute health concerns. These supposed standard relationships between individuals and health care providers are a fantasy.

I truly can't get over this. You can't even get a Covid-19 test from a normal health care provider without jumping through hoops, according to the metric ton of reports from people who have tried!https://twitter.com/julianborger/status/1237748572415762437 …

We're not going to open drive-through centers to provide tests because we don't want to interfere with people's nonexistent relationships with health care providers who also can't provide tests.
