Have done it. Multiple times. And despite the constant admonition, "Just stay on the line so you can tell them it's not an emergency," I would panic and hang up. The worst. That guy years ago was an idiot.
Does anyone else live in fear of accidentally dialing 911 at work because some guy years ago decided 9-1 was a good prefix to use for external calls? Just me?

I've only done it once, but that was enough to make me anxious forever. I also panicked and hung up and promptly, of course, got a call from building security.

To make matters worse, some landlines will automatically dial 911 if you dial 91 and then pause without hanging up.

I would be doomed if that were the case for my phone, because I constantly dial 91 and then pause to glance back at my screen or my notes for the number I'm dialing. - 1 réponse de plus
