I'm fascinated by this. Such a striking — and, I'm guessing, unintentional — example of negative partisanship.
Maybe the Ds see themselves as playing defense because they currently hold the House, and the Rs want to emphasize being on the offensive for the same reason?
I'm sure that's part of it. And obviously, this is a post-election bio for the NRCC, since it refers to retaking the House. But I checked the Wayback Machine, and even before the election, the DCCC's bio talked about electing Democrats, not defeating Republicans.
When you have nothing to sell, you just try to undermine the other guys...
