Very informative and practical interview with E3 Metals CEO Chris Doornbos.. about new lithium production technology and reshoring of lithium supply and markets. I am a big fan of E3 Metals.

I guess we made our beds and now we have to lie in them.Biew the video for the interesting stat on how much more microplastics get into our food just by being wrapped in plastic.

What a great night! Not often I get to talk about energy transition,... the intersection of science and spirit... the fundamentals of technology stewardship... the corporate culture where asking " just because we can do it, doesn't mean we should do it?" can make a project better

Thank you to everyone who braved the cold last night and came to #energybeersnight. It was a great night with great conversation from @MagHanna. In the spirit of giving we would like to encourage everyone to give what they can to the @CalgaryFoodBank.

Really looking forward to speaking at Energy Beers Night with my friend the inimitable Craig Dunn. It is going to be fun, informative and visionary. See you there.

Ralph Torrie is one of my absolutely favourite sensible, thoughtful, and visionary number crunchers....ever. Highly recommend interview as masterful by both @politcalham and Ralph Torrie. HIGHLY RECOMMEND....yes... I put that in capitals for a reason.
Lets repurpose idle oil&gas wells to make electricity as gravity wells. Hang a weight on a cable in a well, and as the weight drops down the hole, the cable unwinds turning a generator that makes power... for about 3 hours... give or take. I m a BIG fan.

Trying to figure out how to take care of my health wrt COVID-19. Had 3 Phizer and then got a particularly nasty bout of COVID that just about got me.... 4 pre-conditions. Have some post COVID symptoms...but getting better every day. Maybe Novovax next. Great data thread here

COVID-19: How good is a Novavax booster and with previous mRNA doses? This long thread explores what kind of immune response a Novavax booster is giving people as a primary series and after 2 or 3 mRNA doses in recent studies, and what some of the benefits seem to be. 🧵1/

Brilliant work by on the impact of mining needed to provide raw materials for energy transition. Highly Recommend.

Have others told you there are not enough raw materials to transition to 100% renewables? Did they say minerals are the new oil? Maybe they believed @SimonMichaux of @GTK_FI? If so, please explain to them they were fooled, by showing them this thread.

I am a big fan of preserving Ingigenous Languages. To me it is not just the words, but how they are spoken together, the syntaxes, the sentence structure, humour, stories, medicine, and implications need passing along. Live recorded conversations between speakers is also key.

A system like that is well adapted to the resource endowments of the region is robust. Robustness means survival and does not depend on efficiency. Of course efficiency is a "nice to have"... but robustness is required to maintain "energy on demand" do we do not end up

Bottom line here is that robustness beats efficiency every time. Together an integrated system with inspired software... incorporating these all or some of these components together becomes something far greater than any single component.

Vaclav Smil is a great rigorous singular thinker but is not an effective systems thinker. He can tell you about the inefficiencies of wind turbines... but does not recognize the robustness of wind turbines +solar panels + green hydrogen

3/There is an easy-to-navigate development process. The site has all the bells and whistles one would expect from any industrial park. Also know that Alberta has a low corporate tax rate of 5% which is very attractive to the bottom line.

Really good episode. The writing is on the wall... the question is how fast we can make changes. And yet even Bill McKibben said we still need oil and gas to get the job done, and that is temporary.

We're back! Season 7 of @MLCleaningUp has kicked off with a deep discussion with @billmckibben. Does he accept that divestment helped cause the energy price spike? Does he agree rich countries should help Africa develop their gas resources? Listen now! cleaningup.live/ep98-bill-mcki
