    Many people speak about prison deradicalisation as if it's some easy solution to issues like London Bridge and that would work if only it had funding etc. Not the case. While it should be pursued do not expect it to work in many, if not most, cases 1/

    One of the stupidest Remain memes going. Like saying there’s no such thing as an iPhone because the parts come from many different countries Takes real confidence to develop a sense of massive intellectual/moral superiority over half the population based on such an inane thesis

    I wonder what percentage of British people realise that the English they speak is a glorious melange of other languages. Mostly French, Germanic and Latin it reflects the waves of migration here since the time of Christ. There's no such thing as "English" really, it's a soup.

    One of the saddest things was academics sneering at working class Leavers. Not only is this anti-democratic, it undermines attempts by universities to welcome students from non-privileged backgrounds. Telling them their parents & grandparents are racists/ignorant not a good look

    One of the things I hear a lot from working-class leavers is, "At least we know what they really think of us now." I can think of many public engagement programmes that might suffer as a result of the minority of snobbish remain voices that have been heard.

    More important than Leave or Remain is whether we can sustain a culture of respect for our felllow citizens and, by extension, for democratic procedures and their outcomes.

    In a democracy you’ll always be able to find people on the other side to pick on and belittle. But millions of our compatriots voted for this and I don’t accept they were all “thick” even though I disagreed.

    I have known Alastair Stewart for 29 years, attended many, many events with him & worked with him in the newsroom. In my personal opinion, you could not find a kinder, friendlier, more generous person in the entire media world. Very sad decision by to fire him.
