  1. Let’s make sure election results are totally reliable and get used to waiting for them a bit.

  4. Is it the notion that relying on peer-pressure to enforce traditional social conformity is good? Because I’m assuming it’s not, 'let’s drive parents of young children who can’t get a babysitter out of the political process.'

It’s been hours & hours but can I just say no political ideology gives *deference* to women, POCs or LGBT people? Support, yes. Support that turns out to be superficial-but-empty? Also yes. Deference is fake in that it’s not a thing that exists and not a thing anyone asks for.

Nigerian immigrants are by far the most educated immigrant group in the US. Over 20% have *graduate* degrees. But... They're also black. So due to the "travel ban" Nigerians will no longer be allowed to get green cards. The ban was never about security.

NIGERIA. The largest black population in the world. A large Muslim population. A US ally, and one of the most important economies in Africa. Trump's comments about African nations being sh*thole countries were not just words. He was foreshadowing actual policy direction.

'Softly they moan, "Please leave us alone" As back and forth they are pacing. And they cover their ears and try not to hear With pillows of silk they're embracing.' --Phil Ochs, "Ringing of Revolution" Written about the Vietnam era political class. Still poignant tonight.

1945, 2010, 2021? Racism remains a big stumbling block preventing the expansion of government-provided health care coverage. Does every candidate see and understand this particular obstacle? Are they laying the groundwork to push past it?
