Yup, now I'm being attacked for trying to conceptualize healthier masculinity, from the left. I knew damn well this would happen. It's why there is no useful discussion of this that lasts very long. Some people prefer outeage to solutions.

I'm not sure how some people expect to build a better society when they focus so much energy on obstructing any efforts at reform. I suspect the reality is that they have no idea how to build a better world, and much rather remain in perpetual conflict.

Pointing out problems is easy. They are standing in plain view. Developing solutions requires you take the caps lock off and engage in some sober, non-reactionary thought. This is the hard part. Self discipline is thin on the ground in a culture of indulgence.

I retweeted all that because I thought it was super smart and thoughtful. I hope it didn’t draw the grossness.

Well, I thought it was smart and an excellent point. Loneliness among older men is a huge public health crisis in the UK, leading to suicide and early death from drinking or just weak social connections (which correlate with lower life expectancy). It’s important!

And touch is a human need! They have done experiments where they have fed infants without actually giving them touch and they get really distressed and ill.

I've spent years isolated, you do experience physical symptoms from touch starvation after long periods. Humans are social animals, touch is a base need for emotional health.

It changes neurochemistry as well. Touch triggers the realse of neurochemicals that impact state of mind. These incel/MRA radicalization outlets are weaponizing people whose mental health is compromised. It's organized terrorism.

It also follows that the standard of masculinity which forbids platonic physical affection greatly contributes to male violence and toxicity. Our culture literally corrupts men's brains.
