Okay. We’re copping serious flak for a coupla tweets we did today, so for those yelling at us, here’s a fuller explanation. We hope this will put our MFW POV more clearly. Thread:

6. NOW. This is where it gets tricky. Because here’s the thing: white women are privileged too: AS A CLASS. Not as individuals or small groups, but as a class of people, white women have more privilege & structural power than other women & than trans and non-binary folk.

7. Other groups have more privilege AS A CLASS too. For example, while there are many people (esp. women) over 50 who are dreadfully deprived & persecuted, those people AS A CLASS have more privilege in most places than those younger. They hold most wealth & property & power.

8. Straight people have privilege AS A CLASS. Cis people have privilege AS A CLASS. Non-disabled people have privilege AS A CLASS. To repeat: not all white, older, straight, cis & able people are particularly privileged & many are suffering. But THEIR CLASS is more privileged.
