Well done to John Hardy and others for pubically calling out this shameful behaviour. It's always the student's fault apparently, but who has normalised fraudulent activity in the first place? Blame has to be placed with the lab head

Whoa! Kiss of death to single abstract screening: 280 people randomized, each abstract screened about 12 times. Single screening missed 13% vs 3% for dual screening. (17% missed by single screening for a public health topic!) Gartlehner &co

2/2 If journal says “from time to time, where we are uncertain of the relative merits of different editorial approaches, we may carry out pilot studies or randomised trials of different approaches. We hope you understand the importance of such research”

I’ve done an RCT in publishing - Q is whether there is uncertainty (equipoise) about which approach is best, and if there is, randomisation is ethical. I’ve also done human RCTs, and TBH the potential harms are of a different order of magnitude ½
