Currently, public sub counts are abbreviated in most but not all places across YouTube. In August, we’ll make this more consistent by always showing abbreviated sub counts publicly. Creators: You’ll still see your full sub count in Studio! Learn more → http://yt.be/help/abbrev-count …pic.twitter.com/pmaKk4EU4k

I think this is kind of smart, will hopefully dampen paranoia and speculation / drama and subcount fluctuations. Like horse blinders :D

What about new channels? I'd rather see "1059" instead of "1k" until it hits "2k". Gives a better visual of your growth than just round numbers

Replying to @MaceNanoro @basiclaser and
It won't go from 1K to 2K directly, you also see the first decimal. I liked it better when the whole counts were shown but this can get hard to read for 7+ digits counts. Abbreviating the bigger counts requires the smaller counts to be abbreviated too for the sake of consistency.

Okay. You missed my point. To creators EACH INDIVIDUAL SUBSCRIBER is important (at least, that's ideally how I see this all working) not just "about this many" of them. That make sense?
