I guess that’s why the item it’s locked inside of needs to be sturdy. Same choking hazard would apply to a name tag that gets loose.

My dogs regular tag somehow comes off and that also can be a hazard. None of my dogs swallowed it. So this doesn’t apply solely for AirTags. Get a collar that has an embedded AirTag holder and you won’t have an issue.

Honestly, having tried it before, I can tell you the biggest problem with AirTags for tracking pets is that it only works within range of an iPhone. Go out into the woods and if your dog chases after a deer you’ll only find it when it finds another human (or you).
