And we seem to be moving to that point. "The idea that ugly aspects of American history should not be taught, for fear that students—white students in particular—might draw unfavorable conclusions about America, is simply an argument against teaching history at all."

We'll say it again: Our clients – members of New Jersey's Indonesian Christian community – face a risk of death if deported. They’ve rebuilt their lives here. They belong here. We're asking ICE to protect the well-being of our clients, as our laws and our values demand.

A lot has happened & 's coverage has been amazing. Here are some thoughts on what we've seen, starting with this conclusion: This is a pivotal moment to dismantle the unjust & brutal system of immigration detention in the US. NJ is leading and ICE should listen. 1/

I never thought I'd say this, but wins Best Person of the Day award for sending me Scandinavian Swimmers. I've been resorting to buying them online because TJ's is too far from me.

BREAKING: We’re defending five people whose First Amendment rights are being violated by Hudson County officials trying to silence opposition to the county jail’s ICE contract. Our clients aren’t putting up with this unconstitutional misuse of power. And neither are we.

Get the vaccine when you can! But take a moment to recognize your privilege in finding an appointment, getting there safely, and receiving what remains a scarce but life-saving resource.

I am no doubt overlooking more reasons why receiving the vaccine at this time is a privilege. Nearly all of the above reasons originate from my privileged position in society as an educated, white woman who grew up comfortably and is therefore able to continue to live comfortably

    9. I am a native speaker of English. Although providers are working to expand the languages in which information about the vaccinations is provided, I can easily access and understand information necessary to feeling safe receiving the vaccine, and scheduling an appointment.

    8. I have health insurance through my work. While insurance isn’t necessary to receive the vaccine, having health insurance dramatically decreases the anxiety around signing up for and receiving the vaccine. I am undeterred by any lack of insurance.
