    Listen to Prof Chris Owen discuss how the new mission will ‘sniff’ the Sun and take close-up images to improve our understanding of our home star and its impact on Earth ‘PM’ (from 22 mins 48 secs)

    This is an image of ESA’s Solar Orbiter, one of two complementary spacecraft studying the Sun at close proximity: it will join NASA’s Parker Solar Probe (also pictured), which is already engaged in its mission.
