Lots of parents, presented with the choice between ‘be the kind of person your kids will confide in’ or ‘violate their trust and privacy’ like to hammer that second button without thinking.

My parents pretty strongly believed in the former and it’s weird how that’s apparently a very rare parenting strategy.

That title was in one of those "recommended reads" sections at the bottom of every news site these days and I noped out knowing full well it'd just enrage me on behalf of the kid. Those excerpts are (unsurprising, I know) exactly what I knew I was gonna see if I clicked.
