FM Kang Kyung-wha invited Presidential Advisor of the US Ivanka Trump to the ROK-US Women’s Empowerment Forum in Seoul on June 30. The event demonstrated the widening scope and depth of the ROK-US bilateral cooperation, which is now expanding to the realm of women’s empowerment.
President Moon Jae-in and North Korea’s leader Kim Jong-un held the second summit at the northern side of Panmunjeom and candidly exchanged their opinions to implement the joint declaration of the first summit and to successfully hold the US-North Korea summit.

The ROK government will offer humanitarian assistance of US$1 million in cash to Indonesia, which suffered casualties and material damage from the powerful 7.5-magnitude earthquake and subsequent tsunami (1.5-2 meters high) that hit Sulawesi Island on September 28.
With Korea’s support, helped 62 countries sustainably manage 120 thousand km2 of forest.
And 40 countries were supported to finance action on biodiversity decline.

MOFA Spokesperson’s Commentary on Group Visit to Yasukuni Shrine by Japanese Lawmakers
On Oct. 8, the Republic of #Korea will provide additional humanitarian assistance of two military transport aircraft and relief goods to the Republic of #Indonesia, which suffered significant damage from the earthquake and tsunami that hit Sulawesi Island on Sept. 28.
The ROK government will provide humanitarian assistance of 500,000 USD to Indonesia for victims of the magnitude-7.0 earthquake that struck Lombok on Aug. 5. We sincerely hope for the speedy recovery of those affected.

FM Kang Kyung-wha, in her capacity as special envoy of the Republic of Korea government, attended the inauguration ceremony of new President of the United Mexican States Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, which was held at the palace of the Mexican Chamber of Deputies on December 1.

FM Kang Kyung-wha met with General Vincent Brooks, who will leave his post as Commander of the US Forces Korea. Minister Kang said that during his service, Commander Brooks helped the ROK and the US achieve their common goal of maintaining a strong combined defense posture.
FM Kang, Kyung-wha spoke over the phone with U.S. Secretary of State Tony Blinken for around 30 minutes on the morning of Jan. 27, and exchanged views on issues of mutual interest, including Korea-U.S. relations and Korean Peninsula issues as well as regional and global affairs.
The ROK-UN Peace and Security Workshop was held on June 9. Participants discussed the future of UN PKO and ways to implement the Seoul Initiative. Korea will continue to contribute to Peacekeeping in technology and medical capacity building.

FM Kang met with Mr. Kent Härstedt, Special Envoy to the Korean Peninsula of Sweden, on Oct. 24. Special Envoy Härstedt expressed support for the ROK government’s efforts toward complete denuclearization and the establishment of permanent peace on the Korean Peninsula.

One month later their last meeting in Pyeongchang, Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha and Ivanka Trump, the U.S. president's senior advisor met again in Washington. The meeting took place during Minister Kang’s visit to Washington between March 15 and 17.

At the "Ministerial to Promote a Future of Peace and Security in the Middle East" held in Warsaw on Feb. 13 and 14, FM Kang spoke of the Republic of Korea’s efforts for humanitarian contribution to the Middle East and shared views on issues concerning refugees in the region.
