    There's no good reason to require public disclosure of Minnesota voters' political party preferences, but that's what will happen in the 2020 MN presidential primary unless the legislature acts next year. Voter privacy should be respected and protected.

    I keep trying to sound the alarm without being alarmist. The danger of an outside attack on our election system is very real. We have to stay focused on it, even though MN has a lot of built-in security advantages.

    Check out the new county-by-county Minnesota voter turnout maps for 2018. Statewide turnout in 2018 was 64.25%, but the county with the highest estimated turnout was Cook County (76.3%), followed by Carver County (75.5%) and Hennepin County (73.1%).

    Worth noting: Neither the current () nor any candidate for Michigan SOS ever suggested gutting the office. Just pure partisan spitefulness at its absolute worst.

    This is exactly why people hate politics. In a lame duck legislative session, Michigan Republicans are using their majority to weaken the office of Secretary of State -- which a Democrat just won.

    Thanks for kicking off our election forum. Great reminder that MN does elections right: same day voter registration; weekend voting; early voting; no-excuse absentee voting; and lots and lots of well staffed polling places.

    It’s official: Minnesota is #1 in America for voter participation for the second election in a row! 2,611,365 voters (an all-time MN record for a mid-term election) 64.25% of all eligible voters (besting 2nd place Colorado)

    Another record-breaking performance for Minnesota last night! Preliminary show 2,593,922 voters. That's a turnout of 63.82%; highest percentage of voter participation in MN for a midterm election since 2002, & largest raw total for a midterm election in MN history. Wow.
