Norwegians and Minnesotans gathered at the American Meal Banquet hosted by the Minnesota National Guard at the Roy Wilkins Auditorium in St. Paul, Minnesota on Feb 4, 2023. Approximately 400 U.S. and Norway citizens attended the event honoring the 50th-anniversary of NOREX.

The 50th Norwegian Reciprocal Troop Exchange (NOREX) has officially begun with more than 100 Soldiers and Airmen from the Minnesota National Guard landing in Norway today for the start of their two weeks of winter survival training, cultural experiences, & building friendships!

The majority of the 347th Regional Support Group has now returned home and were greeted by the MNNG's Assistant Adjutant General, Army Brig. Gen. Lowell Kruse, and the Command Senior Enlisted Advisor, Command Chief Master Sgt. Lisa Erikson. Excellent work and welcome home!

Members of the participated in a 16-day Cold-Weather Operations Course at Fort McCoy, Wis. earlier this week. The Security Forces specialists practiced using snowshoes and moving as a squad over terrain while pulling an ahkio sled in a cold-weather environment.

Congratulations to Col. Ryan Kaspari as he assumed command of the 148th Mission Support Group, & was promoted to the rank of Colonel. He now commands over 400 Airmen conducting missions in civil engineering, security forces, logistics, force support, & communications.

Lt. Gen. Jon A. Jensen, , hosted the Green Tab Commanders Conference in Arkansas, Jan. 9-13, 2023. The conference brought together brigade & division-level commanders from the 54 states & territories to discuss priorities, demand & readiness for our Citizen-Soldiers.

Members of the MNNG honored Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy by attending the 33rd annual Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Breakfast yesterday morning. The event celebrates the legacy of service of Dr. King gave and inspires participants to live out his legacy today.

Members of the MNNG conducted training at last weekend in preparation for the 50th U.S. Norwegian Reciprocal Troop Exchange (NOREX). The exchange, which started in 1974, is the U.S.'s longest continuous bilateral military and cultural exchange.

History was made today when Maj. Katie Lunning, 133rd Medical Group, received the Distinguished Flying Cross Medal, the nation’s highest flying award. She is the first Air National Guard Flight Nurse to receive it. Lt. Gen. Michael A. Loh, Director of the ANG, presented the award

From Artic Winter Operations to Airborne exercises, we have enjoyed training with all of our fellow military members and civilian agency partners that joined us at Camp Ripley during 2022. We look forward to continuing to support excellent training experiences in 2023!

Over the weekend, Minnesota National Guard members in Albert Lea, Willmer, and Olivia recovered 19 stranded drivers and provided shelter to 70 civilians at local armories. We were happy to help the communities we serve in - stay safe and warm out there, Minnesota!
