    Wealth should not determine who stays in jail and who is released. Minnesota's Constitution guarantees the right to bail and we thank all the legislators who stood up for this important right and defeated this amendment.

    Black people die at the hands of police far too often, and people of color are jailed more often, held for longer, and forced to pay higher bails than white residents. Black people comprise 7% of Minnesota’s population, but 31% of the prison and jail population. 4/6
