The Superb lyrebird (males & females) can imitate up to 20 other species so effectively that some model birds can’t tell the difference. Although this infamous video features chainsaw noises, no one has documented wild birds imitating anthropogenic sounds.https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=VjE0Kdfos4Y …

Harris’s hawks hunt cooperatively like wolves in some populations, especially in southern Arizona. Back-standing, as below, is a way to get a better view.

Common swifts have the longest sustained flight of any bird, remaining aloft for 10 consecutive months. Some occasionally take breaks but for 2hrs or less. We don’t know if/how they sleep. But maybe they take naps while descending from 10,000ft.pic.twitter.com/1G72JXvZ8V

Magnificent frigatebirds OTOH can fly up to 2months over the ocean without stopping. In fact they can’t stop, since they aren’t waterproof and will drown if they tried to float on the water. They take 10s naps in one or both brain hemispheres while riding updrafts.

Shrikes are a robin-sized insect and vertebrate eating passerines. They stab their prey onto thorns or tree forks in order to tear into it and cache it. On breeding territories northern shrikes can have bushes with up to a dozen dead bodies. This is a cached bumblebee I found.pic.twitter.com/f0NB2kGTBh

Elenora’s falcons also cache food. l including, during the breeding season, songbirds. Scientists recently discovered birds that were still alive, but their flight feathers had been plucked out. We don’t yet know if this is intentional by the falcons or not.

Arctic terns, who weigh only 3-5ounces, have the longest migration of any bird, flying from one pole to the other every year and logging 56,000 miles. They experience summer at each pole therefore experiencing more daylight hours than any other bird.pic.twitter.com/7TcPoRzWgm

Lammergeyers, or bearded vultures, are the only bird who specialize in eating bones. They drop intact large bones onto rocks, then swallow pieces the size of a fist.https://video.nationalgeographic.com/video/00000144-0a43-d3cb-a96c-7b4f89700000 …

While we’re talking about vultures, DYK vultures can safely digest anthrax, rabies, botulism, and cholera bacteria? They are SO important for disease control.
